Bahrain praised as unique model in peaceful coexistence, tolerance

National Evangelical Church Pastor and Head of Al Bayareq Al-Baidha Society, Reverend Hani Aziz, has praised Bahrain as a unique model to emulate in coexistence and religious tolerance and freedom. He was speaking on the sidelines of “Broadening the Tent: Freedom of Religion and Belief” conference which is co-organised by the Kingdom of Bahrain and the European Union under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Rev. Hani Aziz commended Bahrain’s pioneering status as the land of peace, tolerance and acceptance of the other, under the leadership of HM the King. He lauded HM the King’s role in promoting peaceful coexistence, religious freedom and tolerance, pointing out that religious freedom is guaranteed in the National Action Charter and the constitution, which are considered the basis of legislation.

He pointed out that the conference brings together many local institutions and representatives of the civil society in the EU to deepen joint understanding of religious freedom and promote human cooperation on the basis of pluralism and diversity.

Rev. Hani Aziz said he looks forward to having the conference held annually, pointing out the positive impressions of the EU representatives about peaceful coexistence and inter-faith and cultural dialogue in the kingdom. He noted that the conference would further contribute to promoting the kingdom’s image as the land of peaceful coexistence and a model of religious freedom and pluralism.
