Bahrain set to woo investors

Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa opened the 10th ‘Invest in Bahrain 2015’ Forum at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre yesterday.

The Forum is being organised by the Ministry of  Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has deputed Shaikh Khalid to open the Forum on his behalf.

Shura Council Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh, ministers, senior state officials and guests from Bahrain and abroad attended the function.

Addressing the opening session, Shaikh Khalid expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH the Prime Minister for deputing him to open the Forum, stressing that the Prime Minister was the main supporter of the success story behind the Kingdom’s economic and development boom. He said the Forum was a crucial event aimed at promoting the investment opportunities and highlighting the investors’ growing confidence in the Kingdom, thanks to its advanced administrative and legislative set-up that copes with all changes and circumstances.

The Deputy Premier referred to the government’s keenness on updating and developing the Kingdom’s legislative structure, citing His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s issuance of urgent decree laws aimed at improving the economic atmosphere and putting in place an integrated environment for implementing various fruitful trade and industrial projects.

Speaking at the Forum, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani said Bahrain sought to establish productive and successful partnerships with all the investors who intend to do any sort of business activity across the Kingdom.

“We do not target to promote Bahrain as a suitable destination for investment alone but also want to open up broad areas for business partnerships in a free and stable investment climate for the business owners,” he said.

The Ministry has taken several initiatives to confirm this approach in opening investment prospects like launching of Business Licensing Integrated System (BLIS) on May 20. The minister added Bahrain had been recognising the importance of diversified economy since long.
