The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it. In order to make the younger generation realise the importance of saving our planet, Environment Day was celebrated at Bhavans-Bahrain Indian School.

Preserving the environment for the future generations was reiterated and reinforced through various activities. Kindergarteners learnt pebble art wherein, they painted the pebbles and crafted various animal shapes using waste paper and thread.

Further they also made puzzles using the waste material. Students of grades I and II celebrated the day by reciting poems reminding everyone about the importance of clean environment. Further students of grades III, IV and V participated in a special assembly which was based upon saving the environment and presented the facts on its present condition.

They also made beautiful masterpieces out of the waste material thereby imbibing the concept of recycling the waste. Students of grades VI, VII and VIII presented power point presentations wherein they shared their findings on water harvesting and innovative methods which could be used in future.

Students of Grade VI presented a special assembly on the theme ‘Recycle Day’. Students presented a skit highlighting the use of paper bags and avoiding the use of plastic bags. It reminded everyone that recycling takes a little effort on one’s part, but it makes a big difference to the world.

Additionally, students of grades IX to XII submitted detailed research work in which they found out the traditional ways in which the environment was sustained and enriched in the olden days.

The Directors, Mr Himanshu Verma and Ms Ritu Verma, and the Principal, Mr Saji Jacob, motivated the students to follow the learnings of the Environment Day and preserve the environment for future generations.
