UNTWO concludes session with Bahrain's participation

Executive United Nations World Tourism Organization Council (UNTWO) concluded its 116 session.
Industry, Commerce, and Tourism Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani participated in the session, as well as top officials of international organizations from more than 35 countries.
The session reviewed the changing trends in global tourism in a post-pandemic world, the future of the tourism sector as a fundamental pillar of sustainable development, and international cooperation to overcome the negative effects of Covid-19 on the tourism and travel sectors and highlighted positive changes that ensure tourism focuses on health, sustainability, and technology.
The participants discussed ways to improve international cooperation and joint governance models, analyzing the new view of the tourism sector, utilizing technology to facilitate travel procedures, and the tourism sector's global commitment to sustainable practices.
Bahrain represented the Middle East region on the World Tourism Organization's Executive Council after being elected by the Council's members last year for a four-year term ending in 2024.
The Kingdom is also a member of the World Tourism Organization's Credentials Committee.
