Is it possible to circumnavigate the globe by hitchhiking?

Especially, after knowing there are several choke points like oceans to cross and places where traffic is lean. A famous hitchhiker had once said in an article that he had to wait for two days in Tibet before a single car stopped!

It’s hard, isn’t it?

However, the key here is not to get bogged down and overcome difficulties with a ‘little grit and determination,’ as it is in no case a test of strength or stamina, but it is about cooperation and dependence.

If the question is, can someone here in Bahrain could that?

Bahraini YouTuber Omar Farouk will nod his head. In fact, he has already done a little experiment of him travelling from Dammam to Al Ahsa and then to Riyadh, Al Qassim, Madinah and Jeddah.

Most importantly, he rode without a private car and escorts. Free rides offered by generous people “here and there” took him to all these places.

“I stood there on public streets waiting for cars passing by to offer me a lift,” Omar Farouk says, holding a placard explaining the purpose. Farouk was on the road for more than a week, where he slept on the street inside his small tent, when he felt sleepy. Farouk said he stood on the public streets, holding a cartoon sign that reads, “I came with you for free... and I will give you sweets” to find passersby.

“Some young Saudis were kind enough to offer me a seat, while truck drivers and others also offered me help.” This little adventure took him finally to Jeddah two days back.

He said he found a hotel and visited various places after the “tiring trip.” “After a week I spent homeless, finally I sleep in a hotel,” he said on his YouTube Channel.

Omar presents videos about his experiences in a diverse and unique style that carries meaningful social messages and experiences in different countries and continents. Omar now has more than 4 million subscribers.
