A visit to new Air Traffic Control Center equipment

Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohamed, visited the new Air Traffic Control Center building to assess the progress of work before the start of the first operational phase of the new air traffic management system in the middle of next month.

Present were Hussain Ahmed Al Shuail, Charge d’Affairs for Civil Aviation Affairs, and a number of ministry officials. Eng. Kamal said that the new air traffic control center project comes within the framework of the strategic plan of the Ministry to develop aviation services in the Kingdom of Bahrain and enhance safety, as well as raise their efficiency in accordance with the standards and requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization.

The new Air Traffic Control Center building is the latest in the region. It was designed according to engineering and technical standards and with high specifications as it is equipped with the latest and advanced equipment to monitor air traffic.

The total construction area of the project is about 3120 square metres, at a cost of BD2.7 million. It includes a main hall with advanced and modern equipment for air traffic control at an area of 676 square metres, in addition to a special room for the equipment operating the devices and systems, and a group of facilities attached to the building.
