Bahrain's social housing sector enjoys the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Government headed by HRH Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, said the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning.
“The Royal directive to provide 40,000 housing units will remain as a milestone in the housing march initiated in the sixties of last century,” Amena bint Ahmed Al Romaihi added. The minister was speaking during a field tour of Salman Town with Stefan Holy, Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic and his accompanying delegation.
She highlighted the history of Bahrain in building towns and providing housing services for citizens. Present were Minister of Housing and Urban Planning Undersecretary Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa, Assistant Undersecretary for Housing Projects Redha Mohammed Al Adraj and senior officials.
The minister reviewed several housing projects, starting with those in Isa Town, Hamad Town, and Madinat Zayed, all the way to the new housing cities, including the Salman Town, the Khalifa City, and the Sharq City Hidd, the City of East Sitra, and the Ramli suburb.
Salman Town, the minister said, represents the modern vision of the Government in building urban communities through plans that have multiple models for housing units, facilities and services.
The town has waterfronts, public beaches, paths designated for pedestrians and bicycles, and green spaces. Al-Romaihi confirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to exchange experiences with the Slovak Republic in social housing.
