The Government Hospitals yesterday rejected as incorrect claims circulating on social media that doctors at Salmaniya Medical Complex subjected a patient, who later succumbed to his illness, to surgical procedures without the consent of his family.
The death of the patient in his seventies was from natural causes, and it has nothing to do with any other procedures, as social media claims say, the statement confirmed.
“The death was not the result of any diagnostic or therapeutic procedures performed,” the statement added. Governmental hospitals said it adheres strictly to regulatory protocols in all diagnostic and therapeutic medical procedures to ensure the health and safety of patients.
Responding to the video circulating online, the Government hospitals said the patient was suffering from several chronic diseases, including pressure, diabetes, and Ischemic heart disease, with a decrease in the rate of ejection fraction up to (30%).
The statement said he got admitted to Salmaniya Medical Complex with fluid accumulation in the lungs, which required a customary medical intervention. Doctors performed the procedure in the patient’s room with the support of X-rays and after taking approval twice from the patient in full consciousness, according to established protocols and international standards.
Governmental hospitals confirmed that the patient obtained necessary medical and social care and that his death was natural and not due to any procedures.
