Kuwait Crown Prince honurs Bahrain iGA CEO

On behalf of the Amir of Kuwait, HH Shaikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwaiti Crown Prince, HH Shaikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah honored Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed for his participation as a judge in the Shaikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award 2022. This marks the fifth time he has been a judge in the course of the competition’s 20-year run.

Al Qaed expressed his pride in the recognition, and his appreciation to the award’s Board of Trustees, chaired by Sheikha Aida Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, for their confidence in selecting him as a member of the judging panel, which includes a selection of former heads of authorities and ministers in the field of informatics.

Al Qaed congratulated the award’s organizers on its 20th anniversary, expressing his hope that it continues to have an effect in motivating GCC and Arab countries to share innovative ideas and initiatives aimed at empowering the region’s IT industry.

He added that the iGA is committed to participating in the award because of its important role in encouraging Arab communities to adopt digital initiatives and raise awareness on how to overcome related challenges.

The iGA participated in the award since 2014 up until the 19th edition in 2020, with several of its projects winning during this period. The National Portal, bahrain.bh won 1st place in the Websites category in 2014. Al Qaed was awarded a bronze medal and volunteer shield for his participation as a judge in 2018.

In 2019, the National Complaint and Suggestion System (Tawasul) won for being one of the best technological projects in the competition.

Al Qaed praised all the participating projects in the 20th edition of the award, which was held under the theme, ‘Best Technological Projects’. He wished further success to the competition and congratulated the winning participants from Bahrain, which included the General Directorate of Traffic for its eTraffic project and the Ministry of Education for Edu NET, which are considered achievements on a regional level.

An exhibition was held on the sidelines of the ceremony that included a showcase of the award’s achievements since its launch in 2001, details and photos of 14 winners, and statistics about 332 winning entities from 12 Arab countries over the past 20 years.
