Thumbs up for exhibition centre project progress

The Minister of Works, Eng. Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, and Tourism Minister Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sirafi conducted an inspection tour of the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Sakhir. Al Hawaj said that the Works Ministry is supervising the work at the Center.

“Concrete works and installation of steel structures for all halls have been completed,” he noted. The completion of iron ceiling panels on the main hallway is underway. The precast concrete wall works have also been completed, while the hall wall works are about to be completed with aluminum panels.

Work is also underway in advanced stages of finishing works, internal road works, paving, landscaping and sewage networks rainwater, and the rest of the electrical and mechanical works. Al Hawaj stated that the detailed designs for the project came in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Tourism to support the implementation of their plans and programs which will reflect positively on supporting the national economy.

He added that the exhibition industry is receiving great attention from the government headed by His Royal Highness the Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, due to the importance and economic impact of this strategic sector. Al Sirafi expressed happiness on the progress of work on the project according to the schedule and within the established construction and architectural plans.

She said that this project supports the tourism, industry, trade and hotel sectors, and will also contribute to efforts to attract investments, create new job opportunities and raise the rates of holding international exhibitions in the kingdom.
