Foreign Affairs Ministry said that it is closely following the case of Bahraini woman in Turkey, in which she appeals to officials through social media to expedite her return to Bahrain.

Bahrain’s embassy in Ankara learned on May 24 from the citizen’s father that she was arrested while entering Turkey, and she was released pending further proceedings in the case.

The Turkish court issued a travel ban against the citizen until the date of the hearing in her case on September 29.

The ministry explained that the embassy has followed up the citizen’s issue starting from the arrest, as it has contacted the Turkish official authorities to find out the accusation against her and to request speeding up its procedures.

It also stressed its respect for the provisions of the judiciary and non-interference in the work of the judicial authority, while continuing to provide the necessary support for the citizen, including helping her with appointing a lawyer to follow up on her case.

The ministry added that a report was recorded at the police station explaining that the citizen and her brother had their identity papers stolen, and that the necessary measures are being taken to grant her a temporary passport to facilitate her return to Bahrain once the case is closed and to allow her to leave Turkey by lifting the travel ban imposed on her.

It confirmed that it is closely following this issue in communication with the Bahrain embassy in Ankara and the Turkish embassy in Manama.
