Bahrain is committed to achieving net-zero by 2060: Minister

Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak and Oil and Environment Minister, Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina, inspected mangroves nurseries.
They inspected the progress of the projects to meet the national goals related to the environmental and agricultural sector, as part of the wide-ranging development, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Al Mubarak stressed unwavering efforts to expand green spaces and double the mangrove trees in order to reduce the effects of climate change and contribute to achieving Bahrain’s of reaching net-zero by 2060. He underlined the importance of implementing the national afforestation strategy, highlighting plans to double mangroves in Bahrain to reach 3.6 million trees by 2035.
“The plan is in compliance with Bahrain’s commitment to the goals of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), which have been translated into a number of initiatives, including the expansion of mangrove cultivation,” said Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak.
