Bahrain is amongst Overseas Indians' top 25 destinations

Bahrain is amongst the top 25 countries the Overseas Indians prefer to work and live. Bahrain, which houses 330,000 Overseas Indians, enjoys 18th rank among the top 25 countries preferred by Overseas Indians, says statsofindia.
The ranking features destinations preferred by 32.1 million Overseas Indians who by status are not residents of India or are persons of Indian origin. PIOs or Persons of Indian Origin means foreign citizens who held an Indian passport or their parents, grandparents or great grandparents were born in India or spouses of Indian citizens. However, considering the top 25 countries preferred by Non-Resident Indians, Bahrain is in the 10th spot.
According to statsofindia, 70% of the 32.1 million Overseas Indians live in 10 countries around the globe. Of that, 42% or 13.5 million are Non-Resident Indians, of which 68% are in the Gulf countries. In the Gulf region, UAE is at the top of the ranking by housing 3.4 million Overseas Indians.
Closely following are Saudi Arabia (2.6m), Kuwait (1.0m), Oman (780k), and Qatar (750k). Most of the Overseas Indians in the Gulf region are NRIs, while in the US, UK and Canada, PIOs hold the majority. Globally, the USA takes the top position by housing 4.5 million Overseas Indians.
Closely following are UAE with 3.4m, Malaysia with 3m and Saudi Arabia with 2.6 m Overseas Indians. While the USA is at the top end of the ranking, Italy is at the bottom.
