The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) conducted an inspection campaign which targeted a number of work sites in the Southern Governorate. The joint inspection campaign was carried out in cooperation with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs of the Ministry of Interior and the Southern Governorate Police Directorate.
It resulted in the arrest of a number of workers who have violated the provisions of the LMRA Law and the Residence Law in Bahrain, and necessary legal measures were taken. The clampdown reflects the ongoing efforts exerted by LMRA, the Ministry of Interior and other government departments to improve the work environment.
It also reflects LMRA’s close monitoring of practices that affect the competitiveness, flexibility and fairness of the labour market, not to mention their negative impact on social security. LMRA stressed the pivotal role of society in supporting the government’s efforts in preserving the economic, social, security and health stability.Additionally, the public has been urged to report any labour market violations and irregular employment.
