A joint meeting was held yesterday between the executive and legislative branches to review the outcomes of the Jeddah Security and Development Summit. Top officials commended His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s keynote address as he led Bahrain’s delegation, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Present in the meeting were Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and Parliament Affairs Minister Ghanim bin Fadhl Al Buainain, in addition to the chairmen and members of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security committees at the Shura and Representatives councils.

Addressing the meeting, Dr Al Zayani praised the effective executive-legislature partnership in consolidating the kingdom’s development and democratic processes, and supporting its foreign policy and strategic interests in strengthening the pillars of regional and global security and peace, in line with the wise approach of HM the King and the policies of the government, led by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He praised the fruitful outcomes of the key summit thanks to the wise leadership of Saudi Arabia and the agreement of the participating countries on deepening the strategic partnership. Shaikh Salman said that the Jeddah Summit had provided an opportunity to strengthen the deep-rooted strategic relations with the US.

He commended the pivotal role played by Saudi Arabia to consolidate complementarity and joint cooperation at the regional and international levels to face challenges to regional and global interest and ensure peace for all peoples of the region.

Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee at the Council of Representatives, MP Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi, praised HM the King’s keynote speech during the summit.

He also valued highly the keenness of the government to inform the legislative branch about the outcomes of the Jeddah Summit, which, he said, strengthens the ongoing effective cooperation between the two sides and supports efforts to enhance security and prosperity, under HM the King’s comprehensive development march.

He added that HM the King’s speech had covered all expectations and challenges, as it focused on the need to further strengthen the existing strategic relations with the USA, as well as step up collective action to achieve peace and face challenges.

He reiterated the legislative branch’s support for HM the King’s call for mobilising all efforts in order to stop interference in countries’ internal affairs, combat terrorism and free the region of weapons of mass destruction.
