Praise for Bahrain record in fighting human trafficking

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani has commended Bahrain’s success in maintaining its Tier 1 status in the field of combating trafficking in persons, according to the report of the US State Department, for the fifth year in a row.

He extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Dr Al Zayani expressed his pride in the classification of Bahrain among the developed countries in combating trafficking in persons.

He said that it adds to the Kingdom’s honourable civilised record in respecting human rights, promoting economic and social freedoms, developing the labour market and preserving human dignity for all citizens and residents on the basis of justice and the rule of law, in light of the comprehensive and sustainable development process of His Majesty the King, and in accordance with the Constitution and international human rights standards.

Achievement Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh stressed the qualitative achievement due to the continuous efforts of His Majesty the King in the human rights field and strengthening the security system at regional and international levels.

Al Saleh affirmed that this achievement follows the directives of HM the King and reflects the role of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to preserve the rights of citizens and residents. Development Chairman of the Human Rights Committee and member of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee at the Council of Representatives, MP Ammar Ahmed Al Bannai, praised Bahrain’s civilisational achievement in maintaining its top tier ranking.

Al Bannai affirmed that the achievement is the dividend of the comprehensive development project of His Majesty, who is always stressing the importance of guaranteeing human rights as a national strategy for Bahrain to promote the state of institutions and law. He added that the National Action Charter, the constitution of 2002 and the constitutional amendments approved by the legislative branch have ensured more respect for human rights.
