The Pakistani Women’s Association (PWA) yesterday undertook a refreshment drive partnered with a popular boba and beverage cafe. Eager young volunteers from the PWA’s youth program (YAP) grasped the opportunity to aid workers at various petrol stations, road-side shops around Bahrain, offering them a cold refresher in an effort to beat the glaring afternoon sun.

Met with bright smiles and welcoming eyes, the afternoon was another successful charitable drive for the PWA. Whilst it was a very rewarding experience to be able to bring relief, it was also extremely eye-opening into the hardships faced by many in Bahrain, especially working under the grizzling summer heat, said Shahmeen Islam, President of PWA.

Joseph also collaborated in the project. O m a r Ali, who was part of the youth team, says: “I enjoyed this wonderful experience and felt nice to witness smiles on people’s faces after we handed them drinks in this hot and humid weather.” As awareness increases for summer outdoor working conditions, the PWA hopes to continue providing support to workers outside.

The team was also joined in by other members of the community who distributed chilled beverages to workers in other parts of the country.
