DANAT hosts American environmental researcher

The Bahrain Institute of Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) hosted at its headquarters in Manama, the environmental Researcher and Professor in the Department of Biology at St Anselm College, in the US, Dr Theresa Dabruzzi.
The meeting reviewed prospects for cooperation between the two sides in the field of research and environmental studies related to biology and pearl shells in Bahrain. DANAT affiliates were briefed on Dr Dabruzzi’s visit to Bahrain to study some areas environmentally and to know the ability of their marine species to adapt to climate change, as part of her efforts in the field of environmental and climate protection in different regions.
Dr Dabruzzi learned about the work of the Research Department in DANAT, and its efforts to conserve pearls in Bahrain, protect them from environmental and climatic dangers, and ensure their sustainability.
The Director of the Research Department, Dr Reem Al Mualla, gave an explanation about the department’s work related to the environment and climate, noting DANAT’s efforts in implementing the national plan to revive the pearl sector, and ensuring the sustainability of the pearl pods in the water. DANAT CEO Noora Jamsheer said: “The sustainability of the pearl oysters is a major goal within the framework of the national strategic plan to revive the pearl sector in Bahrain, and it is very important to spread knowledge and experience related to the environmental impact of climate on the formation of pearls.”
