Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam lines up events to celebrate Onam

Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS), the largest expatriate organisation in the Kingdom, is all set to organise events marking Onam celebrations in the Kingdom, from August 12 to October 30, 2022. The events will be held under the title ‘Shravanam 2022’.  Onam is an annual Malayali harvest festival, in the Indian state of Kerala. A major annual event for Keralites, it is the official festival of the state and includes a spectrum of cultural events. 

Renowned Indian playback singers K S Chitra, Hariharan and many other artists including National Award winner Nanji Amma, upcoming talents Najim Arshad, Nithya Mamen will be flown into the Kingdom as part of the events.  Leading Indian businessman and Chairman of LuLu International Group M A Yusuff Ali will be the chief guest at a function to be held on September 9 evening.  A mega Thiruvathirakali (a popular group dance from Kerala) will be performed by 100 women apart from many cultural events.

Magician Samraj will be enthralling the audience with his exceptional magical skills on September 29.  Kerala State Minister for Culture V N Vasavan will be the chief guest on the final day of Onam celebrations on September 30.    Among other events, eminent oncologist known as ‘saint with stethoscope’, Dr P V Gangadharan and wife Dr Chitrathara Gangadharan will be honoured on October 5 evening.  BKS officials held a press conference yesterday highlighting the details of the scheduled events. It was attended by BKS President P V Radhakrishna Pillai, BKS General Secretary Varghese Karakkal and M P Raghu, Chairman of Onam Celebration 2022.
