A food critic’s negative comments have brought a positive impact on a Bahraini woman’s food business!
The critic, wearing the robes of an influencer, in the usual rush to review various preparations, gave a double negative to the Bahraini woman’s sweet dish Rangina, which made her heart-broken.
The woman’s grief went viral across all social media platforms after her son posted a video criticising the critic.
In the subsequent hours, many social media users came in support of the woman by following her account under the hashtag @walnut_bh.
Now both the woman’s business venture and her Rangina have become big hits; it has become a brand by itself with support pouring in from various quarters. Thousands continue to support the woman on social media, expressing solidarity and some are even campaigning for the transformation of her home-driven business into a perfect Bahraini startup.
According to the woman’s son, it was his idea to send the dish to the influencer for a review while the former was on a visit to the Kingdom. “It is his very right to dislike the dish. We don’t have issues over that; but he doesn’t have any right to defame our business by presenting our logo and name during a live session.”
Social media users showered their anger on the influencer for disrespecting the Bahraini woman’s hard work and great efforts towards building up a business venture. Rangina is a popular sweet dish in the Kingdom made out of dates and walnuts.
