Nationwide Quran contest next year
The Dar Al Arqum Quranic Centre for non-Arabic speakers will hold a Nationwide Quran memorisation competition early next year.
The second edition of the Annual Salman Al Farsi Quran Competition will be organised by the centre under the patronage of Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa.
“The Al Arqum Quranic Centre is one of the most prominent Quran learning centres for non-Arabic speakers. The competition aims to help participants identify the correct way to recite the Quran as well as to encourage non-Arabic speakers to enter international competitions,” the organisers said.
The competition is named after the famous Sahabi Salman Al Farsi, who was able to read, memorise and translate some of the verses of the Quran, though he was of Persian origin.
The competition consists of five categories; each person can participate only in one category.
The categories are first juz of surat Al Baqarah, Ushr Al Akheer, juz Amma, Tilawah, and Imam An Nawawi’s 40 hadiths.
“The competition will include various prizes for the top three winners in each category. Special prizes for the oldest competitor and the youngest competitor will also be included,” the organisers said in a statement.
The deadline for the registration is December 30. The competition is sponsored by Gulf Air Club, Gulf Commercial Bank, Bahrain Islamic Bank, Lulu Hypermarket and Asghar Ali shops.
