Muharraq Grand Park contractor loses job following violations

The contract offered towards building a grand park in Muharraq was cancelled by the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry yesterday. The ministry issued a statement confirming that the action was taken following serious breaches to the contract norms that resulted in the deterioration of services and facilities at the park.

The site has been reviewed multiple times to determine the park’s maintenance, safety and security obligations, said municipality officials. The ministry terminated the contract and handed the matter to the relevant legal authority for quick action. The park is closed for now.

After achieving the highest quality standards of maintenance and safety, it will be open to the public, said municipality officials. The ministry is carrying out its duty to monitor the work involving public utilities to make sure that the investment objectives are achieved, they added.

Municipal projects with opportunities for investments and partnerships must be only carried out strictly adhering to set standards and conditions, the officials pointed out. “The ministry gives maximum significance to the security and safety of visitors at the park and hence the contractors must ensure that all work meet the established standards of perfection.”
