Periodic licensing of healthcare professionals in Bahrain tops the agenda of National Health Regulatory Agency (NHRA), according to its leading official. NHRA Chief Executive Officer Dr Maryam Al Jalahma was speaking at a press conference held at The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel yesterday while she made the remark. The press conference was organized by NHRA along with BDA Centre for Conference and Exhibition.
The Chairperson of the second NHRA Conference 2022 and the Chief Clinical Trials and Continuing Professional Development Regulations Department at NHRA Dr Azhar Naseeb and Dr Mohamed Shahda, Executive Director of BDA Centre, were in attendance.
Dr Maryam highlighted the efforts towards licensing healthcare professionals through “MEHAN” and healthcare facilities through “MUNSHA’AT” initiatives along with the details on the upcoming conference. Dr Maryam said a decision has been taken at the GCC council to review the qualification requirements and categorise the healthcare professionals in order to achieve uniform standards for licensing them by the respective regulators.
“If you move to another country, your title will be reserved. The idea is not to have a single license but to have the recognition for the certificates since that would enable the registration in other GCC countries,” said Dr Maryam. The NHRA top official stressed the significance of the upcoming conference in this regard. The Second Bahrain Health Regulatory Conference and Exhibition under the theme “Safe and High-quality Healthcare Services” will be held for three days, starting September 29.
It will be held under the patronage of Lieutenant-General Dr Shaikh Mohamed Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. “The conference is an earnest effort to make a better understanding between all health practitioners, and those interested in providing healthcare, medical products, products of pharmaceutical industries, patient safety, medical educators and other accreditation experts from all over the globe.” The regulator’s vision is to have a safe and high quality in the delivery of healthcare in the Kingdom.
Its strategic goals include regulating and making healthcare facilities accountable while ensuring that the standard requirements of licensing are met. The regulator is also committed to ensuring safe and trusted health services through frequent monitoring of the quality of provision apart from ensuring compliance with evidence-based practices and accreditation standards. It also strives to preserve patients’ health rights as well as protecting the rights and safety of all people who use the healthcare facilities in the Kingdom.
