Workshop on electoral crimes, mass media role kicks off

A workshop on electoral crimes and the role of mass media in the electoral process kicked off yesterday as part of a series of awareness lectures and workshops targeting more than 4,000 participants in the electoral process.
The workshop was designated for the Information Ministry personnel and members of Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA), as part of the training programme for the parliamentary and municipal elections 2022 which is organised by the Public Prosecution under the patronage of Attorney General Dr Ali bin Fadhel Al Buainin, in cooperation with the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute.
The lecture, presented by the Advocate General, Counselor Amina Issa, Senior Undersecretary of the Judicial Inspection, addressed the issue of electoral crimes. It discussed the legislation regulating electoral crimes, their classifications, the temporal and spatial scope of propaganda, as well as the role of the media in the electoral process.
The Public Prosecution, out of its awareness role and contribution to fighting electoral crimes, has launched a training programme since June for all relevant parties in the kingdom’s municipal and parliamentary elections 2022.
The Public Prosecution is also organising a large awareness campaign on social media to raise awareness of electoral crimes. The campaign will continue till the end of the electoral process.
