Registering birth with fake ID land two men and a woman in Bahrain jail

A man who registered his newborn baby boy’s birth using the ID cards of his friend and his wife landed in jail with the couple after authorities exposed their plan. The man allegedly committed the crime after his wife, a runaway domestic help, failed to get back the IDs she left with her sponsor. To overcome the mess, the husband then cooked up a plan to register the birth with the ID of a friend’s wife, which, however, backfired, landing all three in jail for a year.

The Court also ordered their deportation after completing jail terms. Court files say the woman got married to the suspect after she ditched her sponsor and all her documents. It became a hurdle only after the woman gave birth to a baby boy at the Salmaniya Medical Com - plex.

The hospital told the man that they would need the IDs of her wife to register the baby’s birth, which they hadn’t. Failing to find a way out, the husband devised a plan to register the baby’s birth using his friend’s name and his wife’s ID. His friend also agreed to help when contacted. Following this, the man shared the ID with the hospital and gave his friend’s name as the baby’s father. Authorities later discovered this and registered a complaint, with the police arresting all of them. However, the Court acquitted the baby’s mother for lack of evidence.
