In an act of great generosity and humanity, the Bahrain Cancer Society has received donated hair from a little girl.

Fourth-grader at Indian School Bahrain, Eshaal Fathima, has been growing her hair for a while with the goal of giving it to a better cause.

According to Eshaal’s mother Rubina Nalakath, Eshaal became motivated to help cancer patients after watching other pupils at her school donate their hair, particularly one boy from her class who began donating.

“Eshaal is delighted that she could finally help the cancer patients as the hair donation drive was put on halt by the society for more than two years due to the pandemic fears.” Speaking to The Daily Tribune, Ms Rubina said that her daughter had been growing her hair for a while after learning about cancer treatments and how patients suffer from the disease.

“Once the decision was made to donate her hair, she contacted the Bahrain Cancer Society, which initially refused the offer as we were in the middle of the pandemic season.”

As a parent, she said she along with her husband struggled with the dilemma over cutting their daughter’s long hair for a social cause.

“But we understood her greatness and honoured our daughter’s humanitarian choice.” An overwhelmingly excited Eshaal told The Daily Tribune that her hair will grow again and she is not worried about it. “I have absolutely no worries…it will grow again,” the nine-year-old said.
