Bahrain parents start attending induction day ahead of school reopening

Thousands of parents in Bahrain will eagerly walk into public schools today for an induction day to familiarise academic processes and facilitate the smooth return of children to schools this Wednesday for mandatory in-person classes. Private schools had already started classes for the 2022-23 academic year.

Government school students will receive BD25 vouchers during induction days to cover back-to-school expenses. HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister announced this recently. Over 147,000 public school students will start their 2022-23 academic year Wednesday. Welcoming them are 250 early education institutions, 210 government schools and 79 private schools.

There are over 84,000 students in private schools in Bahrain. The Education Ministry said preparations are all set for the induction day. The event, planned until Tuesday, will be held daily from 8 am to 8 pm.

The ministry said it had issued timetables to all government schools for conducting the induction days in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

“Relevant work teams at schools have made round-theclock efforts to better prepare for the induction days,” the ministry said. The new academic year will also see the Al Ezdihar Primary Girls School opening its doors to over 1,100 students. The education ministry had also announced completing comprehensive maintenance works in 40 schools and partially at 160 schools. Education Ministry had also printed and kept ready 2 million books, besides making available digital versions of the textbooks on the Education Ministry website.

More than 700 school buses are also awaiting to provide free rides to over 41,000 students across the Kingdom. Training courses were held for community police officers at all police directorates of the Kingdom to ensure smooth traffic during school opening and closing hours.

“We will regulate traffic on all roads leading to schools in cooperation with the Ministry of Education,” authorities said. The traffic directorate said it also held training sessions for the guards of public and private schools to ensure the safety of students at school gates. Bus drivers of the Ministry of Education, Kindergartens and other educational facilities were given training in different languages on safety requirements while transporting students.
