The High Cassation Court has rejected the appeal submitted by a Bahraini man convicted of planting marijuana. The defendant was earlier sentenced to life for growing marijuana on the roof of his house and putting ferocious dogs to protect its illegal crop.

Police investigations indicated that the accused possessed narcotic substances with intent to use and sell it in the Muharraq area. Extensive investigations were carried out and a police officer in plain clothes was assigned to strengthen his relationship with the accused to purchase narcotics from him and arrange an ambush. But the latter was very careful, so he was monitored for a while.

A decision was finally made to go to his residence after obtaining permission from the public prosecution. The police knocked on the door, and a person who was in an abnormal condition opened, and by asking him about the accused, he told them that he was in the hall. When the accused saw the police coming toward him, he unleashed two large dogs who were accompanying him to attack them. As a result, the officers had to withdraw and secure the entrances and exits of the building, while the two dogs were stationed at the gate of the property.

They defended the accused, and it took about an hour and a half of intense attempts to control the two dogs after they were led to the roof of the building and the door was closed behind them. The force returned to the accused and arrested him. Searching the suspect, the police found narcotic substances, in addition to a pot of marijuana, heat insulation, and special lighting used for planting the outlawed tree.
