More than 147,000 students attended 210 government schools today following a hiatus of in-person attendance for about three years due to the exceptional circumstances imposed by the global spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi praised the strong interest accorded to the education sector by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, that enabled the ministry to provide its best services for all academic levels.
The minister visited several schools to follow up on the procedures of returning to school, during which he participated in welcoming new students, toured classrooms and facilities, and followed up on the implementation of educational and sports activities.
Al Nuaimi said that the ministry prepared for the new academic year by providing a number of supportive services for students, including more than 700 buses transporting more than 41,000 students, as well as buses designated for students with special needs, equipped with wheelchairs and an electric elevator.
The ministry has provided more than two million printed books, in addition to the digital copies available on the ministry’s website and educational portal, where the current academic year introduced 15 new curricula.
The minister congratulated the administrative and academic organizations.
