Two people were injured after a blaze tore through a residential home in the Jidhafs area. Civil Defence officials said they rushed to the scene soon after receiving an alert.
First responders to the fire said they saw huge plumes of black smoke billowing out of the building as fire tenders worked to tackle the blaze.
Police also cordoned off the area, clearing onlookers and making way for fire tenders. Upon reaching the scene, firefighters, in full gear, rushed inside and brought out two people who suffered smoke inhalation injuries.
One of them was given first aid and treated on the spot. The second person was rushed to the hospital by the National Ambulance crew. It's, however, not clear how many people were inside the building at the time of the fire.
Officials also haven't said what sparked the blaze. The exact reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained. An investigation is ongoing, the ministry said.
