Quran memorising competition for non-Arabs in Bahrain

The Annual Salman Al Farsi Quran Competition will take place early next year in Bahrain.

The Dar Al Arqum Quranic Centre for non-Arabic speakers will hold a nationwide Quran memorisation competition under the patronage of Minister of Justice, Islamic Affair and Endowments Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa.

The competition, in its second edition, is named after the famous Sahabi Salman Al Farsi, who was able to read, memorise and translate some of the verses of the Quran, though he was of Persian origin.

"The Dar Al Arqum Quranic Centre is one of the leading Quran learning centres for non-Arabic speakers. The annual competition aims to help participants identify the proper way to recite the Quran as well as to encourage non-Arabic speakers to enter international competitions," said the organisers.

The competition consists of five categories and each competitor can participate only in one category.

The categories are first Part of Al Baqarah Chapter, Ushr Al Akheer, Amma Chapter, Tilawah and Imam Al Nawawi's 40 hadiths.

The competition will feature valuable prizes for the top three winners in each category in addition to a special prize for the oldest competitor as well as the youngest competitor.

The deadline for registration is December 30.
