Bahrain, UAE discuss efforts to fight climate change

Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak met with UAE’s Climate Change and Environment Minister Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri on the sidelines of their participation in the 25th meeting of the Ministers of Municipal Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Al Mubarak praised the Bahrain-UAE relations and the strong cooperation at various levels to reduce gas emissions and improve the environment through afforestation strategies to double the number of trees in the country by 2035 according to the goals of the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference (COP26).
The climate plan includes reducing gas emissions to achieve zero neutrality by 2060. Almheiri praised the bilateral relations on climate change, and stressed aspirations to enhance cooperation.
