Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister, Chair of the High Elections Committee, yesterday confirmed having no changes in the electoral districts.

The minister also told AlAyam, our sister concern, that they have added new housing complexes to the districts. The minister was visiting the Supervising Committees for Referendum and Elections in the Capital Governorate and Muharraq.

The committees are in Khawla Girls Secondary School (Capital Governorate) and Al Hedaya Al Khalifiya Boys’ Secondary School (Governorate of Muharraq).

Muharraq, Northern and Southern Governorates are the electoral districts in the Kingdom. The municipal electoral districts will have electoral constituencies: Eight in Muharraq, 12 in Northern and 10 in Southern governorates.

Each electoral constituency will have a sub-committee to conduct the polling and counting processes. When asked about the calls to boycott the election, the ministry said, “We are confident of the Bahraini citizen’s awareness and keenness to exercise his political rights.”

The ministry further stressed that the Executive Committee is keen on preparing all centres to receive people of determination at all stages of the electoral process.
