The University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) had a great opening of the new academic year 2022-2023 as a number of new and current students returned to campus on 18 September. Exciting for everyone, the first day of face-to-face classes is merely about welcoming students back to class and orienting new students of the different student support services and learning opportunities provided by UTB.

For new students, the first day of classes helps them adjust and feel comfortable in their new academic environment, inculcate in them the proceedings of the university, build connection with other students and faculty members, and direct them to a sense of larger purpose and self-exploration.

On the other hand, for continuing students, it orients them the necessary adjustments to succeed in their programme of study. UTB President Dr Hasan Almulla welcomed all students, faculty and staff to the celebration of the first day of classes to kick off the new academic year.

He inspired the students with functional tips for a successful academic journey while reassuring them of support being the center of the university’s operations. Faculty members, staff and student council members met and greeted students over refreshments, fun activities, prizes, and kind gestures of appreciation. Excitement in everyone’s faces is demonstrably high. Everyone displays readiness to start the first trimester successfully.

That is what the first day of school is about at the UTB. Seeing friends, meeting teachers, getting information about the year ahead, settling in, gaining an understanding of expectations and how things work, setting goals, buckling down, and getting focused on academics while gearing up to enjoy extracurriculars and other school activities – more overwhelming welcome than ever after a couple of years of on-screen attendance to classes. UTB wishes all its students successful years ahead.
