Bahrain Ministry promises 25,000 housing units in 3 years
The Government of Bahrain has provided 108, 276 housing units to citizens worth BD3.1 billion during the past 50 years, it was announced yesterday.
Additionally, Housing Ministry vowed to construct 25,000 housing units in the next three years.
This was announced during a meeting with parliamentarians at the House of Representatives in Gudaibiya yesterday, where Housing Minister Basim Alhamer discussed with MPs the latest developments of the ministry’s housing schemes.
Following the preannounced housing scheme, the ministry is obliged to construct 25,000 housing units during the ongoing Fourth Legislative Term (2014-2018),"Alhamer said.
“Housing Ministry is currently constructing 3,041 housing units in the Northern City Project, in addition to 1,625 units within East Hidd Projects and 1,560 units the different projects of the Southern Governorate,” the minister explained during his meeting.
Alhamer also stated that works were going on to rehabilitate lands for more housing projects, such as Al Ramli Housing Project and land reclamation processes were going on as part of the preparations to build East Sitra Project and other similar projects in the Capital Governorate.
The attending MPs questioned the minister further in regards to some pending housing units delivery, under construction projects and future plans of the ministry.
