Transportation Minister announces Bahrain candidacy for ITU Council membership

Transportation and Telecommunication Minister, Mohammed bin Thamer Al Ka’abi, has announced the candidacy of the Kingdom of Bahrain for membership in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council, as part of the Kingdom’s determination to complete the work of the council with its consensus-based approach, commitment to a global and comprehensive vision, and continuous support to ensure that peoples and countries reap the benefits of the digital economy.

This came during the Kingdom of Bahrain's speech delivered by the minister during his participation in the Plenipotentiary Conference in Bucharest, Romania. He indicated that the Kingdom of Bahrain has succeeded in keeping pace with the changes in the global spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic following the investment it has made in the telecommunications and information technology sectors. He noted that the public and private sectors cooperated to face the repercussions of the pandemic and ensure the continuity of life and services in the kingdom.
