The trial of a 33-year-old Asian man who killed an African woman because she had posted photos of his family on social media has started at the High Criminal Court.

On the day of the incident, the suspect had spent the night in her house before strangling her with a piece of cloth that he had hidden among her clothes.

In order to hear and review the prosecution witnesses, the court decided to postpone the case until October third.

The incident started when the Hoora Police Station notified the Capital Governorate Prosecution that the body of an African woman had been discovered at her Gudaibiya home.

The investigation was started right away by inspecting the murder scene and the body of the deceased, and forensics was given the task of conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

In a report, a worker claimed that he had gone to the scene of the incident to conduct some repairs at the sponsor’s request when a friend of the victim came at the house and was surprised by an odd odour coming from the apartment.

He informed his sponsor, who had submitted the report, after she asked him for assistance. Criminal investigations found that the victim had been killed by an Asian man. He was arrested along with another Asian suspect who had been identified as having stolen the victim’s phone days prior to the murder, linking him to the crime.

During interrogation, the two defendants confessed to having committed the crime. Due to an argument that had developed between them over the fact that she had uploaded images of his female relatives on social media, the perpetrator had made the decision to strangle the victim in her bedroom with a piece of cloth.

The phone in his possession, which the second defendant had stolen from the victim before the murder, included those pictures. In order to prepare for their referral to a criminal trial, both defendants were detained.
