Bahrain grands Maldives partner status in Sea-to-Air hub

Bahrain yesterday granted the Maldives a partner status of the fastest regional multi-modal logistics hub -the Bahrain Global Sea-to-Air logistics hub, during a meeting of the His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa with the Maldives President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, at Al Gudaibiya Palace.
The meeting also witnessed Bahrain and Maldives signing several Memorandum of Understanding for political consultation, sports, battling climate change and training diplomats. HM King Hamad and the Maldivian President praised the signing of the MoUs, noting that they will contribute to enhancing cooperation between the two friendly countries.
“I hope the visit will strengthen close ties and develop them to broader horizons to achieve mutual interests,” HM King told Solih as King Hamad shook hands with delegates accompanying Solih at Al Gudaibiya Palace.
His Majesty affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to extend bridges of cooperation to achieve the aspirations of both countries and friendly people. His Majesty also discussed with Solhi the latest regional and international development of mutual interest.
The meeting mulled ways to boost investment and cooperation in economic, commercial, tourism and cultural sectors. The partner status allows national companies of the Maldives to become authorised trusted shippers at the hub that offers a 2-hour turnaround time for all containers at 40% of the cost.
Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, handed over the certificate declaring the Maldives as a partner of a service centre of the Cargo Services Centre in Bahrain.
Bahrain also granted the Maldives a certificate allowing sovereignty over the information of its subscribers in the cloud computing centres in Bahrain. Later, HM King hosted a luncheon in honour of the President of the Republic of the Maldives and the accompanying delegates.
