Bahrain's hosting of Asian Weightlifting Championship embodies HM King Hamad's support to sports community: HH Shaikh Khalid

First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS), President of the General Sport Authority (GSA), President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has affirmed that Bahrain’s hosting of the Asian Weightlifting Championship embodies the care accorded to Bahrain sport by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

HH praised the unlimited support of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to various championships hosted by the kingdom to consolidate Bahrain’s standing as a sport tourism destination.

This came during the inauguration of the Asian championship which is held under his patronage and is organized by Bahrain Weightlifting Federation under the supervision of the Asian Weightlifting Federation. The championship is organized from October 6 to 16 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Environment Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, GSA Deputy Chairman Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, BOC Deputy Chairman Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee Prince Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of Bahrain Paralympic Committee Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa, Minister of Information Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Alnoaimi, HM the King’s Advisor for Youth and Sport Affairs Saleh bin Hindi Al Mennai, President of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Mohammed Jalood Al-Shammari, President of the Asian Weightlifting Federation Mohammed Yousef Al Mena, representatives of the international and Asian weightlifting Executive Bureau and representatives of the participating teams in the championship. 

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa commended continuous support of Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, SCYS Chairman, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, stressing the key role it plays in attracting championships and shedding light on the kingdom’s numerous achievements. He stressed that the kingdom’s hosting of the championship contributes to boosting partnerships with the regional and international sport federations and organisations. He also affirmed the importance of the Asian Weightlifting Championship in further promoting the kingdom’s standing as a host of major sporting events.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the remarkable efforts of Bahrain Weightlifting Federation, under the chairmanship of Ishaq Ibrahim Ishaq, the organizing committee and all committees, wishing Bahrain National Team and all participating teams every success.

At the end of the ceremony, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad received a commemorative gift from the President of Bahrain Weightlifting Federation.
