Incumbent Bahraini election candidate’s Instagram account hacked

Hackers have taken over the Instagram account of incumbent parliamentary Bahraini poll candidate Ahmed Al Salloum.
It is learnt that hacking was carried out by a group of hackers from outside the Kingdom.
The hackers were asking money from many, which was denied by the lawmaker’s social media campaign team.
Mr Al Salloum has filed a complaint with the Cybercrime Department within the Interior Ministry and a probe is on. Efforts are being made to restore the account, it is learnt.
The MP’s campaign team informed that a “systematic image distortion campaign” was being carried out by many from outside the country using fake Instagram and Facebook accounts against the lawmaker.
“We have firm belief in the cybercrime department and are hopeful that the issue will be resolved soon.”
