The Mina Salman Interchange, which is instrumental in easing traffic along the main economic corridor between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, is to get a significant facelift.

A tender launched for the project by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture has attracted two companies.

According to the bids, the project will cost between BHD 285,875.000 (Newcastle construction) and BHD 289,990.193 (Gulf Fencing & Specialist Surfacing) for the exchequer.

The works include demolition, removal and reinstatement of existing works, soft landscaping, irrigation network system, and hard landscaping.

The interchange developed by Afcons Infrastructure for BD24,205,500 is a 3-level interchange, with a 3-level underpass in each direction.

The facility carries traffic from Sh. Isa bin Salman Highway towards Hidd (both directions) along Sh. Khalifa bin Salman Causeway.

There is also a two-lane flyover (one direction); carrying traffic from the west along Sh. Isa bin Salman Highway towards Al Fateh Highway to the North.

The project provides a nonstop traffic flow from King Fahad Causeway (west) to Dry Dock Avenue (East) and Khalifa bin Salman Port in Hidd.
