Engineers are essential partners in nation-building: minister

The role of engineers in national development was praised by the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, calling them an “essential partner” in nation-building.
The minister also underlined the pivotal role played by the Bahrain Society of Engineers over decades in the development of the Kingdom.
The minister said this during a ceremony hosted by the Bahrain Society of Engineers on Bahrain Engineers’ Day.
Bahraini Engineers’ Day is marked in mid-October each year to highlight the role of Bahraini engineers in infrastructure projects in the Kingdom.
The ministry then planted a tree as part of a campaign by the society to plant 131 trees in line with the national afforestation campaign “Forever Green.”
The "Forever Green" campaign, launched on October 20, 2021, under the patronage of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, aims at turning Bahrain greener by planting 50,000 trees and shrubs.
Shawqiah Humaidan, Assistant Undersecretary for Shared Services at the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs, Reda Al-Adraj, Assistant Undersecretary for Housing Projects at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, Salah Abdul Rahim, Chief Technology Officer at Bnet (Bahrain Network) were present.
Dr Raeda Al Alawi, the Bahrain Society of Engineers president, commended the ministry’s support of all initiatives aimed at developing the agricultural sector in the Kingdom.
Yasser Abdul Rahim Al Abbasi, CEO of the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC), said the Bahrain Society of Engineers is today one of the most successful and oldest professional societies in Bahrain that has left a clear imprint on the development march.
