Bahrain F1 Grand Prix to boost tourism: Minister Al Sairaf

Bahrain will reap the fruits of the upcoming Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix’s 19th edition at all levels, especially the tourism sector, including hotels, restaurants, event organising companies and agents.

This was emphasised by Tourism Minister Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi, saying that the event will attract an unprecedented number of tourists and visitors to the Kingdom.

She was speaking while receiving yesterday Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) Chief Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa and a number of executive officials, who briefed her about their programmes and readiness for the 2022-2023 season of international and local championships, events and tests.

Al Sairafi expressed confidence that this year’s edition will be one of the most successful since the launch of the event 19 years ago, thanks to the tremendous efforts exerted by Shaikh Salman.

They discussed joint cooperation and coordination in all events hosted by BIC throughout the year, including the Bahrain International Air Show.

Al Sairafi stressed the keenness of the Ministry of Tourism to provide all the necessary support and facilities to the BIC, highlighting the establishment of joint working teams between the Ministry and BIC to carry out all the necessary tasks quickly and effectively.

She praised BIC’s outstanding ability to host and organise mega events round the year, particularly the Formula One Grand Prix, which is an event that draws the world’s attention to the Kingdom, which makes more resolved to work as one team with its partners to attain unprecedented success and enhance the country’s status as the home of motorsport in the Middle East.

Shaikh Salman expressed BIC’s keenness to achieve its common goals with the Ministry of Tourism, in the interests of the Kingdom, as a whole, noting that BIC’s executive management seeks to advance the tourism and sports sector in the country.

He underlined BIC’s keenness to expand joint work with the Ministry of Tourism to consolidate the position of the Kingdom as a destination for sports tourism, in light of its existence as one of the most prominent international circuits.

He added that BIC has become a major element of tourism promotion for the Kingdom.
