An interactive session on varicose vein, hemorrhoids and other related health issues was organised by Middle East Hospital and Medical Centre under the title ‘Health Master’ on Friday.
Orthopedic surgeon Dr Kishore Kiran led the session, explaining the treatments available as well as preventive measures.
Varicose veins are twisted, enlarged veins.
Any vein that is close to the skin’s surface (superficial) can become varicosed.
Varicose veins most commonly affect the veins in the legs.
That’s because standing and walking increase the pressure in the veins of the lower body.
Hemorrhoids, also called piles, are swollen veins in your anus and lower rectum, similar to varicose veins.
Hemorrhoids can develop inside the rectum (internal hemorrhoids) or under the skin around the anus (external hemorrhoids).
Nearly three out of four adults will have hemorrhoids from time to time.
The interactive session saw participants raising various doubts to be answered by the subject expert.
Middle East Hospital and Medical Centre is one of the prominent players in the Kingdom’s healthcare field.
