The democratic process and parliamentary life in the Kingdom of Bahrain are progressing at a steady pace, and the holding the elections as scheduled stands as a proof for that.

This was emphasised by the Minister of Information, Dr Ramzan bin Abdullah Alnoaimi.

In an interview with Egyptian Al Ahram newspaper, Dr Alnoaimi noted that with the dawning of the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the National Action Charter (NAC), which was approved by an overwhelming majority of the Bahraini people, came with clear and explicit principles that guarantee the adoption of a modern constitutional model that responds to the latest and most efficient global political practices.

He stressed maturity of Bahrain’s democratic experience, describing it as long-standing and an extension of well-established tradition in political practice.

The Minister said that Bahrain has been known throughout its more-than-230-year history “shura” (consultation) as an approach between the ruler and the people.

“The voice of the people has always been an important factor in national decision-making, which has been framed and preserved within the institutions of the modern Bahraini state,” he said.

Dr Alnoaimi said that preparations are underway for the parliamentary and municipal elections, and that all constitutional institutions are working to make this great national event a success.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Information is proud to harness all efforts and capabilities to cover this national event and highlight it to the world appropriately.

The Minister stressed the citizens’ enthusiasm since the first stages of the election, taking pride in the participation of Bahraini women in all popular entitlements, leading to her becoming the head of the legislative authority in 2018.
