In a swift police action, Bahraini cops arrested yesterday two men who were on the run after stealing BD 12,260 from a money transfer company employee within hours of committing the crime.
The Capital Governorate Police Directorate said they caught the suspects within four hours of receiving a complaint. Police said they also retrieved the lost amount from the suspects, who are aged 58 and 59 years.
As per case files, the suspects stole the money from the employee while he was completing procedures to deposit the day’s collection in a bank. Citing an opportunity, one of the suspects first approached the employee under the pretext of seeking help.
He then turned his attention away from the bag by asking him to pick up something that had just fallen from him. Making full use of the decoy, the second suspect took the money inside the bag and quietly left the place.
The victim managed to recognise the trap only after some time. Despite panicking, the man quickly informed the police, who assigned a team to find the suspects. Capital Police said they took necessary legal measures to refer the suspects to Public Prosecution.
