Looking forward to visit Kingdom: Pope Francis tells Bahrain's envoy

His Holiness Pope Francis yesterday expressed his pleasure in making his first visit to Bahrain during an audience with Bahrain’s Ambassador. Pope told Dr Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar Abdullah that he is “looking forward to participating in the Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: East and West for Human Coexistence”.

His Holiness said this as he received the credentials of Dr Abdullah as the Ambassador of Bahrain to France as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Vatican and residing in Paris. Pope Francis congratulated Dr Abdullah on his appointment, noting that he will receive all support for the success of his diplomatic mission.

Over 200 religious’ leaders from various parts of the globe are attending the forum held from 3 to 4th of November 2022. Pope Francis was invited to visit Bahrain and attend the Forum by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. Further, the Ambassador conveyed to Pope Francis the greetings of HM King and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister and their wishes, stressing the importance of supporting and strengthening ties between Bahrain and the Vatican.

Dr Abdullah also affirmed to His Holiness Bahrain pursues a policy of peace, tolerance, openness and dialogue, saying that Kingdom is looking forward to the historic visit of His Holiness.
