Maryam Riyadh Siddiq proclaimed first ‘Miss Planet Bahrain’

Ms Siddiq, a student of the Art of Communication and Social Media, will represent Bahrain at the Miss Planet International (MPI) competition in Uganda from 5 to 19 November 2022.

She was crowned by the MPI National Director, Whendy Crisostomo, who is also the Managing Director of WC Production International, the official partner of Miss Planet International in Bahrain.

Ms Crisostomo, along with members of the Miss Planet International Council Board, selected the winner from 20 registered applicants. Ms Siddiq has been chosen for her concern and strong conviction for the preservation and protection of the environment, and who also believes that beauty would be an effective advocate for a worthy cause in the environmental protection campaign world - wide.

During the event, Mr Yusuf Lori, Manama Governorate Director of Information and Follow up, awarded the plaque to the newly crowned Miss Planet Bahrain. The winner also received flowers and gifts from the sponsors.

Meanwhile, officials of the Philippine Embassy who graced the event included Labor Attache Atty. Vicente M. Cabe, Consul Bryan Jess Baguio, Consular Attache Jie Marie Mortel-Ladrica and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Welfare Officer Redina Manlapaz. More than 80 delegates from around the world will be competing for the Miss Planet International 2022.

This is the first time that a Bahraini representative will be participating in the prestigious competition. The event was also attended by various media groups, print and broadcast, including social media influencers and bloggers.

Miss Planet International, one of the biggest pageants in the world, is an annual global beauty pageant anchored in the fulfillment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to make efforts for a better and more sustainable future for all.
