Bahrain "categorically rejects" Al Jazeera report

Bahrain yesterday “categorically rejected” the reports published by the Qatari Al Jazeera channel on the humanitarian situation in the Kingdom in connection with the Pope’s visit to Bahrain.
The National Communication Centre, in a statement, said the reports are “misleading” and “inaccurate” and lacked professionalism and media objectivity. Al Jazeera reportedly claimed that the Pope, in his speech, urged the Bahraini authorities to ensure respect for basic human rights.
The broadcast, the statement said, was misleading and grossly inaccurate about the humanitarian impact of the historic visit, respect for the principles of human rights, religious and labour freedoms, and Bahrain’s successful efforts to consolidate the value of coexistence, peace and brotherhood.
