HM King Hamad affirms Bahrain’s commitment to human rights

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has affirmed Bahrain’s longstanding commitment to protecting and adhering to human rights through action and practice.
HM King made the statement welcoming the address of His Holiness Pope Francis at the welcome ceremony held in his honour at Sakhir Palace.
These commitments, HM King said, are guided by codified frameworks set out by the National Action Charter and the Constitution of Bahrain to safeguard and implement them while raising awareness through thought leadership and constructive engagements.
His Majesty also pointed out that these commitments are widely endorsed and upheld by the Government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which works closely with Parliament to reinforce and implement them.
His Majesty further noted the significance of the humanitarian values it carried, which stress the importance of the principles of human rights, religious freedoms and labour protections.
